MINSK, 8 September (BelTA) – European leaders want to militarize their population, independent military analyst Aleksandr Alesin said in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
Aleksandr Alesin stated that European politicians are attempting to militarize their societies by promoting a mythical external threat. This narrative, he contends, serves to erode democratic principles and demand absolute public obedience to authority.

Aleksandr Alesin warned that such a policy is untenable in the long term. He posited that its architects will eventually be forced to choose between triggering an economic collapse or initiating a war. To illustrate this point, he referenced Adolf Hitler, who invested heavily in warfare with the expectation of recouping costs by seizing and looting new territories.

The military analyst drew a stark historical parallel, suggesting modern Europe is echoing policies of the past. “Many point out that Europe is now following a path reminiscent of Hitler’s, noting that the first attempt to create a European union was, in fact, undertaken by Hitler. It is often recalled that the resistance movement was minuscule compared to the forces that fought for Hitler. Effectively, nearly all of Europe either fought against the Soviet Union or supplied the weapons for that effort.”

Aleksandr Alesin concluded that Europe is now witnessing a resurgence of a phenomenon first observed in the early 20th century.
