Opinion: Europe is past its prime, facing a decline

MINSK, 7 October (BelTA) – Europe is past its prime and is facing a decline, the independent military analyst Aleksandr Alesin said in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
“The European Union is, paradoxically, turning into a sick man. Once a treasure trove of technologies, a source and generator of advanced ideas, Europe is now becoming barren in all aspects: economically, politically, and ideologically. I am not saying that Europe is finished, but it is becoming feeble. It seems this civilization is past its prime and is facing a decline,” Aleksandr Alesin said.

The expert stressed that it is not only about the economy. In his opinion, the European Union is in a state close to a social and political crisis. “If the LGBT agenda, xenophobia, nationalism, and real fascism are flourishing there, it shows that Europe is approaching a crisis,” he believes.

In this regard, Aleksandr Alesin recalled the classic definition of fascism given by Georgi Dimitrov in the last century. According to this definition, fascism is the last argument of capitalism, when all other arguments have failed.

“Of course, they [the EU ruling elite] will resist, and we are already seeing this now. They have lost their levers of influence over the population, no longer generate new ideas, and cannot provide social benefits, such as education and healthcare, at the proper level. Their last resort is to inflame militaristic hysteria to herd the population and maintain control,” the expert said.
