Oman willing to share experience in museum construction with Belarus

MINSK, 16 December (BelTA) – Oman is open to share its experience in museum construction as Belarus is building new National History Museum, Secretary General of the Oman National Museum Jamal al-Moosawi told BelTA.

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko toured the museum during his working visit to the country.

"We have approved an ambitious plan to construct a new building for the National History Museum in Minsk. We have expressed our readiness to cooperate in this area, to share our experience. Because we have our own unique experience," the head of the museum said.

Belarus and Oman have been cooperating in culture for several years. The countries exchanged exhibitions, held cultural days and hosted creative teams. The National Museum of Oman also took part in this effort. "The National Museum is a compound of museum facilities, including historical palaces and estates," Jamal al-Moosawi stated.
He believes that the Belarusian and Omani people have a lot in common in terms of culture. For example, the famous Slutsk sashes. "We still wear similar belts. And similar daggers [a belt and a curved dagger called Khanjar fixed on it is a part of the national male costume in Oman] which the Belarusian nobility used to wear: the dagger was also a part of men's costume," the head of the museum said.
