Nineteen agreements currently in effect between Belarus’ Grodno Oblast, Russia’s Kaliningrad Oblast

GRODNO, 28 November (BelTA) - Municipalities, general education, and preschool institutions in Grodno Oblast and Kaliningrad Oblast currently maintain 19 active cooperation agreements, Yelena Ganevich, Chair of the Voronovo District Council of Deputies, Deputy Chair of the Grodno Oblast Council of Deputies, told the media oahead of the final conference of the project “Belarus-Russia: Building the Future Together!” BelTA has learned.

“We share a long-standing friendship with Kaliningrad Oblast,” Yelena Ganevich said. "As the western outpost of the Union State, we are connected through economy, traditions between our peoples and shared historical ties. In this way, we strengthen international diplomacy and interregional cooperation.”

She noted that substantial experience has been accumulated through collaboration. “The joint projects supported by the Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Support Fund has provided excellent momentum for our cooperation. These include two projects: ‘Belarus-Russia: Building the Future Together!’ and ‘The Great Victory: One for All!’, a new initiative implemented in the first half of 2025. Through our collaborative efforts, we have conducted approximately 60 meetings in the form of video conferences and telebridges,” Yelena Ganevich said. “Together, we have implemented more than 10 initiatives aimed at developing youth and volunteer movements and promoting public diplomacy.”

She emphasized that the initiatives deliberately engage diverse target groups. “It is crucial to develop public diplomacy and international integration starting from preschool age. From the earliest stages, we must lay the foundations for mentality, cooperation, strengthening international and cultural ties, traditions, and historical commonality. As a rule, this shapes youth m, supports talented young people, ensures inter-generational continuity, and fosters a shared mentality within our integration framework,” Yelena Ganevich stated.

Today's conference has once again emphasized that our joint experience is reaching a higher level of integration development. "We actively discussed the prospects related to developing a cross-border cooperation program between Kaliningrad Oblast and Grodno Oblast,” Yelena Ganevich stated. "It represents a unique opportunity that confirms the new level of our diplomatic ties and relations,” she said.
