Newly appointed Minsk first deputy mayor names key priorities

MINSK, 13 October (BelTA) – Aleksandr Komendant, who was approved by the head of state as Minsk First Deputy Mayor on 13 October, has outlined priorities for his new role as he spoke to reporters, BelTA has learned.

The official, formerly the Chairman of the Economy Committee of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee, told journalists that his regional experience will certainly come in handy in Minsk. He noted, however, a significant shift in scale: “The range of tasks is similar, but the level is completely different.”
Aleksandr Komendant will be in charge of investment, foreign economic activity, trade, public catering, and the industrial complex. “Some domains, like transportation and communications, are new for me. I’ve never worked in Minsk. I hope and this is for a reason that Minsk isn’t much different from Grodno. Grodno and Minsk residents are similar, since we are all citizens of the same country and, essentially, perform the same tasks.”
