MPs to review Brest Hero Fortress restoration project

MOSCOW, 12 April (BelTA) - MPs will take stock of the project to restore the memorial complex Brest Hero Fortress at a meeting of the Commission on Social and Youth Policy, Science, Culture and Humanitarian Affairs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia in Moscow on 19 April, BelTA learned from the PA press service.

"Union State MPs will discuss the results of the Union State projects to create a sculptural composition for the Rzhev Memorial to the Soviet Soldier in Tver Oblast and to overhaul, restore and preserve the Brest Fortress structures in the memorial complex Brest Hero Fortress,” the press service said.

The execution of the 2021 Union State budget and the guidelines for the further development of the Union State for 2018-2022 will also be reviewed in part of the issues that fall within the purview of Commission on Social and Youth Policy, Science, Culture and Humanitarian Affairs. The activities of the Youth Chamber at the Parliamentary Assembly in 2021 will be reviewed too.

The meeting is to be attended by representatives of the Standing Committee of the Union State, the Education Ministry of Belarus, the Ministry of Education of Russia, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia, the ministries of culture and healthcare of the two countries and members of the Youth Chamber of the Parliamentary Assembly.

On 20 April, Union State MPs will visit the Rzhev Memorial to the Soviet Soldier, get familiar with the museum's exhibition and also meet with with representatives of the Tver regional and district administrations. The MPs will also get familiar with the work of the international military-historical search expedition “Rzhev. Kalinin Front”.
