MINSK, 5 April (BelTA) –  Women would not be able to balance family and career so easily without the support of the government, Marina Lenchevskaya, Chair of the Standing Commission on Legislation of the House of Representatives, member of the Council of the House of Representatives and member of the Presidium of the Belarusian Women’s Union, told the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.

“We have wonderful women in Belarus. I keep saying that Belarusian women are not feminists, we were not and will not be them due to our mentality. But we are emancipated. Today women can handle any task. We can work from morning till evening, and then come home and raise our children. We can cope with our household chores,” said Marina Lenchevskaya.

According to the deputy, women would not be able to manage both home and work so easily without the support of the government. “At the meeting with activists of the Belarusian Women’s Union, the president raised an interesting question about kindergartens and after-school care. Indeed, our women work, and they work hard. Sometimes they are not able to pick up children from kindergarten or after-school care on time. By the way, the Belarusian Women’s Union will also get involved in addressing this issue, we will think of finding some balance that would allow women to do their job and take care of their kids,” noted Marina Lenchevskaya.
