
VITEBSK, 4 May (BelTA) - A monument to commemorate soldiers and partisans who perished during the Great Patriotic War was reopened after the reconstruction in the village of Paulie, Ushachi District of Vitebsk Oblast, BelTA has learned.
The mass grave at the site contains the remains of 60 individuals, 33 of whom have been identified. In 1952, a 7.5-meter-high reinforced concrete obelisk was erected there. In 1975, a silumin memorial plaque was added with the inscription: "Here lie the soldiers of the 51st rifle division who fell in battle against Nazi invaders in June 1944." The monument has been restored ahead of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
