
MINSK, 23 May (BelTA) - The Chinese cultural festival named Tea for Harmony will take place at Svobody Square in Minsk on 31 May, the Minsk City Executive Committee press service told BelTA.
The event is organized by China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Chinese Embassy in Belarus and the Minsk City Executive Committee.
Starting at 12:00, visitors will be able to attend various workshops, demonstrations of intangible cultural heritage and a Chinese food festival. The official opening ceremony at 13:30 will feature officials from both China and Belarus. "China's traditional tea processing techniques and associated social practices have been inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage, drawing global attention to this ancient cultural tradition," the press service noted.
The program includes two gala concerts (13:30-15:30 and 20:00-22:00) by award-winning performers from Tianjin, featuring traditional wushu, folk dancing and singing. A special zone will offer Chinese delicacies including dumplings, skewers, Yangzhou fried rice, bubble tea and zongzi rice cakes.
Cultural institutions including the Chinese Cultural Center in Minsk and four local Confucius Institutes will present interactive activities such as calligraphy, painting, taichi and paper-cutting. Traditional handicrafts from Tianjin will also be on display.
Coinciding with International Tea Day (21 May), the family-friendly event offers free entry to all visitors.
