Minister: Belarus is ready to support international initiatives to combat crime

MINSK, 13 May (BelTA) - Belarus is ready to support international initiatives to combat crime, Belarusian Minister of Internal Affairs Ivan Kubrakov said as he met with Interpol President Ahmed Naser Al Raisi, BelTA learned from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

On the margins of the World Police Summit in Dubai, Ivan Kubrakov held a working meeting with Interpol President Ahmed Naser Al Raisi. The Belarusian minister thanked his colleague for the support of Belarus and for helping promote the cooperation between police services in general, despite the fact that this process is hampered by a number of countries. Noting the active cooperation with the International Criminal Police Organization, the minister highlighted the successes in operational cooperation in combating serious crimes, including terrorism, drug trafficking, and cybercrime.

The minister voiced new initiatives to deepen the partnership, including joint workshops and seminars to improve the skills of employees. "Belarus is ready to support international initiatives to combat crime and develop joint projects with other states. We intend to continue active cooperation and exchange experience to ensure security at both national and international levels," Ivan Kubrakov emphasized.

The parties discussed topical issues of cooperation in various areas. Emphasis was placed on the work to counter drug crimes and search for internationally wanted persons. "Relations with Interpol are extremely important for us. Being a responsible and active member of the organization, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus is open to all topics and ideas contributing to our joint development. We are ready to actively work on new projects and initiatives. We are confident that our cooperation can reach new heights if we continue to share experience and find common ground," Ivan Kubrakov said.

In turn, the head of Interpol noted that he has very good ties with Belarus . "Every time I visit the country I have unforgettable impressions. It is especially valuable that your employees, even despite certain political moments, invariably continue to work with us," Ahmed Naser Al Raisi added.
