MINSK, 11 March (BelTA) – Most of Iran’s missile potential is hidden in the underground cities that cannot be hit with conventional shells. Aleksandr Alesin, an independent military analyst, made the statement in a recent episode of BelTA’s YouTube project On Point.
“People working for the U.S. intelligence claim that most of Iran’s missile forces are hidden in deep underground tunnels and even entire underground cities. Essentially Iran has been preparing for this turn of events for a long time. Some say for 20 years. Some say even longer than that,” Aleksandr Alesin noted. “Hundreds and thousands of mobile missile systems, ballistic missiles, and drones are stored underground.”
The military expert stressed that hitting these positions with conventional missiles and bombs does not seem feasible. The thing is that a significant part of Iran’s missile potential is located at depths of 700-800m below the surface. Some of the positions closer to the surface are hardened with concrete cushions and thick soil layers.
“The United States of America is destroying ordinary dummy models in a number of cases now. Satellite images show that those can be just images of combat hardware painted on the ground. But the headquarters and command centers hit by the United States and Israel were empty at the time of the strike,” Aleksandr Alesin stated.
