MINSK, 9 January (BelTA) - China is eager to study Belarus’ culture and learn more about its education opportunities, Belarusian First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lukashevich said in an interview with BelTA.
“Cultural interaction with China has long transformed into a dialogue,” Sergei Lukashevich noted. “Mentality, national character, historical heritage, creative resources of our peoples are most clearly manifested and expressed in culture. Interest to get to know each other better is mutual.”
“It is particularly pleasing to note that China demonstrates a high interest in studying the Belarusian culture and learning more about its education opportunities, for example in music and vocal specialties, fine arts, decorative and applied arts. In the current 2024/2025 academic year, more than 1,000 Chinese citizens are enrolled in the Belarusian universities of culture majoring in applied and theoretical specialties,” Sergei Lukashevich noted.
He emphasized that the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of Belarus tours China every year. The latest tour was from 18 December 2024 to 5 January 2025.
Sergei Lukashevich highlighted the importance of cultural exchange. Thus, at the end of December 2024, Belarus hosted the Days of Culture of the People's Republic of China. Cooperation between the largest libraries, the national art museums is gaining momentum too.
A relatively new and very promising area of bilateral cultural cooperation is cinematography. In this regard, Sergei Lukashevich highlighted a joint Belarusian-Chinese film project which is designed to demonstrate the centuries-old traditions, cultural and historical heritage, nature, and ties between the peoples of Belarus and China.
