MINSK, 31 December (BelTA) – The outgoing year 2025 was interesting and eventful, Belarusian President’s Press Secretary Natalya Eismont said on the air of the Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA has learned.

“For me personally, it was a very diverse year. It was filled with all kinds of events that differed greatly from one another. But it was a very interesting and good year. Naturally, my personal life is deeply intertwined with my professional life: it couldn’t be any other way. Therefore, if I were to describe my professional year, I would say the following: I can’t recall such a busy year. Having worked with the president for 11 years, I can’t recall such an intensity of diverse events held in completely different formats,” she said.

She noted that the head of state held about fifty events in the regions in 2025, meaning Aleksandr Lukashenko visited one region or another practically every week. To this were added fifteen foreign trips and hundreds of events at the Palace of Independence and those were only the ones that received media coverage.

“I certainly can’t even begin to say how much of the president’s schedule was non-public this year. Sometimes the president reveals something, sometimes he gives a hint, lifting the veil of secrecy. But the amount of work, of course, is enormous. Almost ten thousand people have taken tours of the Palace of Independence. This is also part of our extensive and important work,” Natalya Eismont said.

The press secretary recalled that 2025 began with the presidential election and continued with major events at the national and international levels, concluding with a session of the Belarusian People’s Congress.

“We must look back and see how far we’ve come, how many great and important things we’ve accomplished. It’s astonishing,” she remarked. “You asked what surprised me this year. My answer to that question is probably the pace of this year. The pace set by time. The pace set by the president. I really want to believe that we all could keep up. But the pace we’re working at now is fantastic.”

Speaking about the final event on the president’s 2025 schedule, which was a visit to Horizont Holding Company, Natalya Eismont noted the choice was deliberate. Aleksandr Lukashenko, speaking with the company’s staff, also explained why he chose to visit Horizont on New Year’s Eve.

“The president said that he had been offered a selection of enterprises and chose Horizont, calling it ‘the enterprise of the future’. Let me provide a bit of context. Originally, the proposed schedule for the morning of 31 December, which was to be the president’s last official event of the year, featured a completely different event – a social one. This is an established tradition, and we all understand the reasons. This practice is very beautiful, very important, and very relevant. Indeed, these are good, but rather traditional events. And the president, looking at this schedule a few weeks before, wrote ‘production’ on the schedule. And when we saw this word, it became absolutely clear to everyone what the coming year would be like: on 31 December, the president is going to a production facility. For everyone, it was absolutely logical and natural,” she said.

According to her, such decisions reflect the head of state’s priorities. The manufacturing sector is critically important for Belarus today, and the president’s focused attention on it is a significant signal.

“It’s vital for the entire country that such industries operate, develop, and modernize. The president has promised and, of course, will pay attention to this,” Natalya Eismont concluded.
