MINSK, 21 November (BelTA) – Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of Belarus Natalya Kochanova has met with Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova on the sidelines of the CIS IPA Council meeting in St. Petersburg, BelTA has learned.
“First of all, I would like to congratulate the people of Azerbaijan on the excellent organization and conduct of a major political campaign - the parliamentary elections. We are glad that this campaign was well-coordinated, open, and transparent, and the people showed support for the policy of President Ilham Aliyev. Our colleagues monitored the elections, and I can assure you that they came away with very good impressions, saying that everything went great,” said Natalya Kochanova.
According to the speaker, good relations between the two countries are largely due to the efforts of the two leaders. “Aleksandr Grigorievich keeps saying that no topics are off limits for Belarus and Azerbaijan. Our leaders are committed to promoting cooperation between the two countries and peoples, strengthening contacts in all areas, including trade and economy, humanitarian and social matters, and contacts between the parliaments,” the chairperson of the Council of the Republic emphasized.
Natalya Kochanova praised the high level of organization of the climate summit in Baku. “This is a landmark event and it was held at a very high level. The presidents of our countries gave an absolutely correct assessment of the processes taking place in the world,” Natalya Kochanova remarked.
