Karayev: Some refugee families stranded on border with EU willing to stay in Belarus

GRODNO, 21 December (BelTA) – Some of the refugees, seeing how peaceful Belarus is, are willing to stay in the country, to live and work here, President's Aide - Inspector for Grodno Oblast Yuri Karayev told the media, BelTA has learned.

Refugees have been staying in a temporary accommodation facility at the transport and logistics center Bruzgi near the Belarusian-Polish border for 44 days already. About 600 people are currently living in the transport and logistics center. Yuri Karayev visited the center on 21 December.

"These are mainly those who do not want to return to their homeland, but want some kind of solution to their issue. Several families have already expressed a desire to stay in Belarus. They saw how peaceful the country is, how they have been taken care of. At the same time, people clearly understand that they need to work here, rather than live on welfare," Yuri Karayev noted.

The situation in the transport and logistics center is calm and under control. The refugees are provided with hot meals, warm clothes, medical care, Yuri Karayev noted.
