MINSK, 11 February (BelTA) - Minsk will host the 3rd Belarusian-Russian Tourist Congress on 8-9 April and is going to be more ambitious than the previous editions, Filipp Guly, Chairman of the Board of the Belarusian Union of Tourism Industry, said at a press conference to discuss the cooperation between Belarusian and Russian tourist businesses held in the business and cultural complex of the Belarusian Embassy in the Russian Federation, BelTA learned.
The congress will run new sections and will draw a larger number of participants. The event will become an effective platform for the presentation of advanced ideas, discussion of challenges and the strategy of joint work in the field of tourism, Filipp Guly noted.
It is expected that the event will bring together the largest Russian tour operators and also representatives of hotel chains, banking sector, and health resorts.
The agenda will include online trade, investments in infrastructure, prospects of river and rail cruises development, unification of the regulatory framework, etc.
"Tourism between Belarus and Russia shows growth across the board: from consumption to the distribution system, related sectors. There are many problems and challenges that need to be discussed and solved," said Filipp Guly.
Yuri Barzykin, Vice President of the Russian Union of Travel Industry, Chairman of the Committee on Entrepreneurship in Tourism at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, emphasized that the tourism congress will be held on the eve of a significant date - the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. "Military-patriotic tours are very popular, and this topic will be one of the priorities," Yuri Barzykin said.
He outlined the growth trend in organized tourism. In this regard, the potential of the two countries has not been exhausted. In January 2025, an agreement on mutual recognition of visas came into force, which opens up prospects for attracting tourists from third countries. Therefore, it is important for the tourism business to offer an integrated tourist product.
