MINSK, 22 February (BelTA) - In the West, there are many forces that dream of tearing apart both the Union State and Belarus and Russia individually, State Secretary of the Belarus-Russia Union State Sergey Glazyev told the Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA has learned.
Sergey Glazyev noted that there are forces which do not want Belarus and Russia to be together, to be strong and independent. For these forces, Belarusian-Russian integration is like a thorn in their side.
“As we can see today from any news coming from the West, there are plenty of such forces among our neighbors who want to tear apart not only our Union State. They basically dream of tearing apart both Belarus and Russia individually. Unfortunately, this Russophobia, which is now in full swing in the West, has not gone away for centuries. This is sad, and I think this will become the main cause of Europe’s collapse. Because in their Russophobic frenzy, in their desire to do us harm, they have long been acting against the interests of their own countries. They are acting to the detriment of their own peoples,” the state secretary of the Union State said.
In his opinion, the dire social and economic situation in Europe, which is worsening by the day, is the result of this aggression against Belarus and Russia. It is the result of the West’s desire to humiliate, weaken, and, to put it bluntly, destroy the Union State.
“I think common sense will still prevail, and a moment will come when the Union State will be seen as a model of how to build relations between states, how to create conditions for people to live comfortably, so they do not feel borders, and so our enterprises can combine their competitive advantages to operate in the common global market,” added Sergey Glazyev.
