General Staff: Belarusian military science focuses on applied research

MINSK, 26 November (BelTA) – Belarusian military science focuses on applied research, BelTA learned from Chief of the General Staff, First Deputy Defense Minister of the Republic of Belarus Pavel Muraveiko.

Pavel Muraveiko said: “In the context of the conference hosted by the president to discuss science I can say that we focus on the applied nature of research projects, which are being carried out and developed by our scientists today. A very large number of conflicts are going on in the world and contain a rational kernel. Those can be used to build and develop our own Armed Forces, to perfect the theory and the practice of the work meant to ensure military security, develop military art or perfect elements within the framework of the theoretical training of future or existing military personnel.”
The 7th international military science conference began in Minsk on 26 November. “The event has become a good tradition that we have been organizing virtually every autumn for the last seven years. The geography of participants gets bigger all the time. There is a very large number of military scientists and experts, who track and study modern military conflicts,” the General Staff chief stressed.
The conference is aimed at studying scientific endeavors and their applied aspects in the interests of defense and security. “During the conference we intend to look into and align approaches to evaluating the nature and the content of modern military conflicts taking into account our guiding documents: the National Security Concept and the Military Doctrine. A large number of opinions and views exist today. And the main goal of the conference is to select the main directions and incorporate them later on into the practice of the work of the troops. Moreover, our Armed Forces have come close to another stage of planning their construction and development for the next five years. Materials of the conference, those R&D products that have made by scientists will be incorporated into the new [army] construction and development plan. I am convinced that the materials that will be presented for public discussion today will be in demand in countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Collective Security Treaty Organization, among our closest friends,” Pavel Muraveiko concluded.
