MINSK, 19 December (BelTA) – Each political party should have a project that improves people’s lives in the country, Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party of Belarus Oleg Gaidukevich said during the second session of the 7th Belarusian People’s Congress, BelTA has learned.
As Oleg Gaidukevich noted, the President’s Address to the Belarusian people and the Parliament garnered attention not only of the entire country but also of the neighboring states and the West.
“As the president has said repeatedly, no program of social and economic development will be fulfilled without a strong political system, without strong authority, and without unity in society. Several years have already passed since the large-scale political reform in our country, which affected all areas, including political parties, public organizations, and civil society. Today, we have four political parties operating, whereas there were fifteen before. Most of them existed only on paper or were openly working against the country. Today, all four of our parties support the president,” the party chairman emphasized.
According to him, in the pursuit to destroy our country from the outside (and such attempts are also made by those self-exiled Belarusians), opponents are trying to do this, among other ways, through the existing political parties. “Therefore, we propose to assign certain areas, sectors, and districts, as outlined in the social and economic development plan, to the four parties. After all, each party does have and should have a concrete project, economic or social, that improves people’s life in the country. And we will compete and show other countries what genuine party development and real competition look like,” Oleg Gaidukevich noted.
