MINSK, 30 October (BelTA) - Syria and Belarus are two friendly countries, Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Bassam Sabbagh said during a meeting with Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova in Minsk on 30 October, BelTA has learned.
"Syria and Belarus are two friendly countries. We have historical bonds. We cooperate in various fields. Last year, our countries celebrated the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. During these three decades, our cooperation has grown stronger and achieved good results. We highly appreciate the mutual support in all areas and in the international arena," Bassam Sabbagh said.
He recalled that the day before, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Syrian Arab Republic signed a memorandum of understanding on political consultations in order to strengthen and coordinate cooperation between the countries.
