MINSK, 29 May (BelTA) - The Minsk platform is open for negotiations, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Aleinik told the media following the meeting with his Hungarian counterpart Péter Szijjártó and the session of the Belarusian-Hungarian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation in Minsk on 29 May, BelTA has learned.
“Further provocations, pushing Ukraine to military confrontation ‘to the last Ukrainian’ and pumping it with weapons, including long-range ones, may lead to a world catastrophe and irreversible consequences,” the minister said. “All this will definitely lead to even worse consequences for Ukraine and its population.”
Sergei Aleinik said: “Minsk's position remains unchanged from the very beginning - it is necessary to stop the loss of life and start negotiations. Immediately. We, for our part, are ready to help in every possible way.”
“The Minsk platform is open for negotiations,” Sergei Aleinik stressed. “It is in our common interests. There is no more important issue for the common European home today.”
He added: “Unfortunately, some countries, including our neighbors, are trying to force Minsk to become part of the conflict, and here I am talking about real actions, which you have obviously heard about.”
