ZVYOZDNY GORODOK, 6 March (BelTA) – Marina Vasilevskaya dreamed of flying higher than the sky even while working as a Belavia flight attendant, said Vitaly Vasilevsky, the father of Marina Vasilevskaya, member of the main crew of the 21st visiting expedition to the International Space Station, BelTA has learned.
“We will be looking forward to seeing our daughter again, we will miss her. I am sure that everything will go well. I am trying to support her every way I can. And we are very proud that our daughter was honored to participate in this space flight and represent our Belarus,” Vitaly Vasilevsky emphasized.
When asked by journalists whether it was easy to let his daughter go into space, Marina Vasilevskaya’s father answered: “She wanted it, so let it be. She had a dream of flying higher than the sky even while working as a Belavia flight attendant.”
According to Vitaly Vasilevsky, his daughter did not tell him until recently that she planned to become a participant in a space flight. “When we found out, we were anxious. But now we only feel joy,” Marina Vasilevskaya’s father added.
A reminder, the Cosmonaut Training Center hosted a farewell ceremony for the main and backup crews of the 21st visiting expedition to the Baikonur Cosmodrome. Taking part in the ceremony were family members and close relatives of the cosmonauts.
