"On Point"
MINSK, 27 November (BelTA) - The end of hostilities in Ukraine is only the beginning of the next stage of its tragedy, economist and analyst Serghei Banari said in a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA's YouTube channel.
“I believe that Ukraine has long been in a situation of a historical tragedy, and we should not delude ourselves into thinking that the end of hostilities means the end of Ukraine’s troubles and tragedy; it is only the beginning of the next stage of this tragedy. Plus, the USA is already practically saying openly that they don’t care about Ukraine. Yesterday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that the White House has stopped funding Ukraine and does not intend to continue doing so,” Serghei Banari said.
He also commented on the situation from the European Union. “After Ursula von der Leyen was elected as President of the European Commission, all her speeches concerned the militarization of Europe to the tune of almost €1 trillion. If we look at the rhetoric of Macron and Merz, they are trying to downplay their own failures in the economy, social policy, migration policy, and the loss of competitiveness. Europe hasn’t seen such a catastrophe and systemic crisis in a long time, perhaps not since World War II. And today, the war in Ukraine is their only lifeline, which they are using to hide or push their failures into the background. Therefore, as soon as a peace agreement is signed, we will witness the fall of a large number of European Union governments. First and foremost, I am talking about Germany. It is one of the main factions thanks to which Ursula von der Leyen, Kaja Kallas, and António Costa came to the power and the positions they now hold,” the expert emphasized.
Given Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, and a number of other European states that are beginning to awaken from the hibernation that, according to Serghei Banari, Euro-Atlantic liberal propaganda plunged them into, the question will arise: will Ursula von der Leyen retain her position, considering the vast number of corruption scandals in which she has already been implicated and for which there is enough evidence for more than one criminal case? Therefore, he believes, Europe will have no time for Ukraine.
