MINSK, 17 January (BelTA) – At the beginning of the year, U.S. President Donald Trump removed all the safety locks, Ukrainian military expert Yuri Dudkin said in a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
Reflecting on the behavior of the U.S. leadership, Yuri Dudkin noted: “At the start of the year Trump completely took off all the safety locks. In other words, nothing is sacred there. As he says, international law does not exist for me, but my morality does. That is his main safety lock — his morality.”

The expert drew attention to the U.S. president's reaction to a statement by Greenland’s Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen that Greenland does not intend to fight America. “Trump frowned and said: who said that, what prime minister?” Yuri Dudkin added.

“For him, there are no boundaries today. What is happening shows that U.S. hegemony is firmly entrenched in their minds and for a long time. They are not going to back down from their positions or the role of a global policeman, as it was called in Soviet times,” he said.

He recalled that in November 2026 the United States will hold a midterm election. “The ruling party (there are only two parties, Republicans and Democrats) always loses this election. Trump does not want that. He is betting on international disorder. Whenever the midterm election approaches (before Trump and during Trump), there is a need to stir up trouble somewhere on the periphery. But Trump has gone even further: he has kidnapped presidents and tries to annex entire foreign territories. Anything to attract as many American voters to his side as possible. That is what matters most to him now. And that is the only reason he does it. Not because he wants to make America great again, but to hold on to power in Congress and the Senate,” Yuri Dudkin said, adding that the final outcome of the U.S. leader’s actions is still difficult to predict.
