MINSK, 8 February (BelTA) - The Epstein case has become a convenient pretext for domestic political struggle in the United States, Doctor of Historical Sciences Nikolai Platoshkin said in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
Today, the Epstein case has become a pretext for intra-class struggle in the United States. “Everyone is implicated, regardless [of political views]," emphasized the political scientist.
“Now, ahead of the Congressional elections scheduled for the autumn 2026, they will use the Epstein files: Democrats against Republicans, Republicans against Democrats. Where it will lead? Who knows... Because Trump’s approval rating after the first year in office is the lowest to date of any president. He needs to do something. That’s why he’s barking at Venezuela, Cuba, and Iran. He needs to show voters how exceptional he is,” Nikolai Platoshkin said.
Nikolai Platoshkin noted that Jeffrey Epstein, who was tried for sexualized violence against minors and sexual exploitation of children, was not a financier in the classical sense of the term. He managed the assets of well-known individuals, assisted them in circumventing tax legislation, and in other words, engaged in fraudulent activities.
