"On Point"
MINSK, 9 August (BelTA) – Nikita Belenchenko, Director of the Center for International Studies of the Faculty of International Relations at Belarusian State University, outlined potential areas forcooperation between Belarus and Indonesia in a recent episode of V Teme [On Point] on BelTA's YouTube channel.
The expert suggested that Belarus’ geographic location could help facilitate Indonesia’s access to European markets, while cooperation with Indonesia would open doors for Belarusian exports in the Asia-Pacific region. “By deepening ties with Indonesia, we signal to all of Southeast Asia that we are fully open and adaptable to their economic needs,” he emphasized.
Nikita Belenchenko outlined key sectors for collaboration, including mechanical engineering, agriculture and IT. “Strengthening this partnership will yield positive results,” the expert added.
The discussion follows Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko’s nearly three-hour meeting with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on 15 July, where leaders explored a wide range of topics. The leaders met in an informal setting, with Aleksandr Lukashenko inviting the Indonesian president to his home.
“Indonesia is a nation of over 270 million people, the largest in Southeast Asia. Being a G20 member, it has an independent voice, distinct from the positions of the United States or the collective West. With a growing economy and an expanding middle class, its representatives are increasingly interested in investments, both domestically and abroad,” Nikita Belenchenko said.
