MINSK, 30 July (BelTA) – No one feels sorry for Ukraine but us, Andrei Bogodel, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Education and Science - Head of the Education and Methodology Department of the Faculty of the General Staff of the Armed Forces at the Military Academy of Belarus, said in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
The expert noted that Russia had been drawn into the conflict, and those responsible benefit greatly from the current situation. “The strategy of attrition in prolonging this conflict works both ways. But no one feels bad for Ukraine – we are more likely to feel sorry for Ukrainians. They are our kin. Recently on TikTok, I saw soldiers sitting in trenches on opposite sides singing the same songs - Katyusha and others. How can this be? They share the same language and culture, despite years of efforts to divide them,” Andrei Bogodel said.

According to him, the West understands it currently faces no direct threat. “They will drag out this conflict as long as possible, potentially until 2028-2030. In March, they adopted the White Paper for European Defense – Readiness 2030, which outlines Europe’s military reform and rearmament plans through 2030 - explicitly preparing for war by 2030. Though recently, many are shifting focus to 2028, likely due to the intelligence indicators we have discussed. The situation remains tense. As our head of state said - they won’t let us live in peace,” he said.
