Expert explains Kiev’s rejection of peace proposals

MINSK, 9 October (BelTA) – Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Nikolai Azarov (2010-2014) analyzed Vladimir Zelensky’s response to an earlier peace proposal for the country in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
He was referring to the statement by the Belarusian head of state that there are good proposals to resolve the Ukrainian conflict. The Ukrainian side reacted instantly, responding with what was essentially a trolling attempt.

The politician explained why such proposals are fundamentally rejected by Kiev. “The attitude of the Kiev regime towards the proposals made by Aleksandr Grigoryevich Lukashenko has revealed its attitude towards peace. If they really intended to reach a peace agreement, they would not refuse any proposals. It is necessary to consider absolutely all proposals, seek some kind of compromise on their basis, and at least take some action. But to dismiss it like Zelensky did… It is clear he is not acting on his own,” the expert stated.

The politician suggested that the Belarusian leader did not make this proposal without a reason. “He hosted the U.S. president’s special envoy. Apparently, these ‘good proposals,’ as he called them, resulted from his talks with the U.S. side. I will repeat: Zelensky’s response reveals his true stance. It is evident he seeks peace from no one: neither Lukashenko, nor the USA, nor Russia,” Nikolai Azarov emphasized.
