MINSK, 16 June (BelTA) –  The West has invested heavily in its endeavour to tear Armenia away from the EAEU and CSTO, Aleksei Avdonin, an analyst with the Belarusian Institute of Strategic Research (BISR), said in a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.

As journalists noted, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan were engaged in a conversation at the military parade in Moscow on 9 May. “This was extremely frustrating for the West as it had invested quite a lot of money in Armenia in an attempt to tear it away from the CSTO, the EAEU and, in fact, to pave the way for the destruction of these two integration entities in the post-Soviet space as this will deprive the CSTO and the EAEU of the opportunity to expand further,” Aleksei Avdonin said.

The analyst emphasized that the president of Belarus has always advocated for dialogue and good relations with Armenia, despite some disagreements. “This creates a basis for strong Belarus-Armenia relations - both in the bilateral format and within the framework of the EAEU and CSTO. And no Western forces will be able to tear Armenia away from our global integration projects,” Aleksei Avdonin is confident.
