MINSK, 25 January (BelTA) – The current developments in Russia is very similar to the recent events in Belarus, political analyst Andrei Lazutkin said in an interview to the STV channel, BelTA has learned.
“The greatest strangeness is the protests without any clear leader, like in our country. Navalny is taken to the detention center as soon as he arrives in Russia, and the protests took place without his participation. People seem to come out and protest spontaneously. As in our case, the agenda will be switching: first, people come out, for example, in support of a particular candidate, then because they voted otherwise, and later against the violence. As we can see, this is working in Russia, and I think that is what we will be witnessing in the near future,” said Andrei Lazutkin.
He emphasized a significant role of social networks in what is happening. “If in Belarus Telegram was mainly used, in Russia it is Tik Tok. It is a simple social network which caters mostly for the youth, almost children. It would seem that there could be no politics there, but the organizers have reached it as well,” said the political scientist.
