Challenges facing Belarus, Russia in electronic engineering outlined

MINSK, 17 June (BelTA) - Belarusian Deputy Industry Minister Aleksei Kozlov outlined the challenges in electronic engineering facing Belarus and Russia during the plenary session of the third Electronic Engineering 2026 conference, BelTA has learned.

According to Aleksei Kozlov, the event has already become an important tradition, bringing together specialists from Belarus and Russia to address the most pressing challenges. “The electronic engineering industry is a key factor determining the technological sovereignty and defense potential of any state, which in the current geopolitical environment takes on particular significance. The products and technologies of this industry are a reliable foundation for the development of microelectronics, aerospace, medicine, telecommunications, and other high-tech sectors,” the deputy minister emphasized.

The two countries face serious challenges, he noted. “We need to focus on continuous improvement of the production facilities, development of our own technological equipment, new materials and software,” Aleksei Kozlov pointed out. “The implementation of joint innovative projects and initiatives allows us not only to expand cooperation, but also to build up the unified scientific and technological capacities of the Union State. The current level of cooperation is high enough; we are successfully creating modern optical-mechanical equipment for the needs of microelectronics.”

The deputy minister is confident that the developments, achievements, and fresh ideas presented at the conference will form the basis for new promising projects and will become a new step in ensuring the technological independence of Belarus and Russia.
