MINSK, 27 April (BelTA) – Friedrich Merz's rhetoric about readiness to supply Ukraine with Taurus missiles could pave the way for “sliding into World War III”, Doctor of Historical Sciences Nikolai Platoshkin said in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA's YouTube channel.
“If Merz is elected federal chancellor on 6 May, which is most likely, he can supply Ukraine with long-range Taurus cruise missiles. They are capable of reaching Moscow. What’s Merz’s reasoning? The French supply SCALP, the British supply Storm Shadow..... Why can't the Germans? But Scalp and Storm Shadows have a range of 300 kilometers, while Taurus has a range of 590 kilometers. From the point of view of combat operations, this is a completely different thing,” Nikolai Platoshkin said.
