"On Point"
MINSK, 7 October (BelTA) - The first stones in the foundation of a multipolar world have already been laid, as evidenced by a series of processes occurring globally, independent military analyst Aleksandr Alesin said in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
“We are in the process of building a multipolar world, and the first stones have already been laid in the foundation. Previously, when the Washington establishment signaled, most countries would comply and rush to follow Uncle Sam's directives. Now, the USA is unsuccessfully trying to persuade major global powers like India and China to halt oil purchases from Russia. These countries are not only refusing to comply; in fact, they are acting in defiance of the USA,” Aleksandr Alesin said.
The expert pointed out that the emerging multipolarity is also reflected in the fact that countries unwilling to follow Washington's orders are uniting into alliances and forming new centers of power. One such example is the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
“This is normal behavior for countries that lack their own potential. Their goal is to preserve themselves and ensure their development. Therefore, more and more countries are choosing the SCO. Not only because it has abundant resources but also because it is not dominated by anyone. It is an alliance of equals, despite differences in territory size, population, and number of nuclear weapons, among other factors,” Aleksandr Alesin emphasized.
He believes that all these factors indicate that there is not just one center of power in the world; a multipolar world is already practically formed. “Perhaps political science is lagging behind, but practice shows that the world is no longer what it was very recently,” Aleksandr Alesin concluded.
