MINSK, 14 March (BelTA) – The Middle East sees growing de-Americanization after US and Israel strike Iran, Editor-in-Chief of the Words and Meanings almanac Elena Kondratieva-Salgueiro (France) said in a recent episode of BelTA’s YouTube project V teme [On Point].
Elena Kondratieva-Salgueiro noted that some analysts are now trying to figure out who was manipulating whom in the attack on Iran: whether the United States was manipulating Israel or Israel was manipulating the United States. However, the expert believes that today it is no longer so important which of these two countries is the tail and which is the dog. They both ended up in the same harness, and the attack on Iran has led to an unexpected effect.
“The effect they perhaps did not expect (which means they once again overestimated their own strength and analytical capabilities) is the de-Americanization of the Middle East. The anti-American sentiment, with each new day of bombing and completely new, utterly demagogic statements, only contributes to the fact that if there was any feeling of hostility among Middle Eastern countries (which, as it turns out, have not had their freedom or security provided by the presence of the U.S. bases on their territory) it is only growing. This de-Americanization is already evident now. It must be analyzed by everyone who truly wants to understand something about the current situation,” Elena Kondratieva-Salgueiro stated.
In her observation, the anti-American stance in the Middle East is only strengthening, even in those countries where the United States was, in a way, revered.
“This push by the United States to implant 'democracy' everywhere is just globalism in another form - the belief that it can fit all of humanity into a single template. And not just any template, but one refined to a level of purity only it can define and deliver. The only result so far is the wave of anti-American sentiment that is now intensifying in the Middle East. Even in places where people believed that if we have an U.S. base, we are protected. As practice shows, this has not happened. And it is unlikely ever to happen,” the expert believes.
