GOMEL, 16 January (BelTA) - The number of electric vehicles in Belarus doubled in 2025 compared to 2024, BelTA learned from Belorusneft.
To date, 49,557 cars with green license plates are registered in the country, the enterprise said.
“The decision was made in the country to maintain zero customs duties for electric cars in 2026, and Belarus received a quota for importing 20,000 ‘clean EVs’. To stimulate the market, the state extended a number of preferences and incentives for electric transport until 2028, however, it canceled free parking for electric cars,” the company said.
The goal set for the next five years is 300,000 electric vehicles. This figure is equivalent to 10% of the automobile traffic. According to the plans, if the trend continues, at least 8,000 to 10,000 electric charging stations will be available to ensure comfortable recharging, the enterprise forecasted.
The Belorusneft production association was established in 1966. The enterprise conducts exploration, prospecting, and development of oil fields, well drilling, and extraction of oil and associated petroleum gas in Belarus, and operates in the oil sector of other countries.
