Electric vehicles in Belarus to continue enjoying lower transport tax

MINSK, 12 November (BelTA) – The preferential rate of the transport tax on electric vehicles will be extended in Belarus, BelTA learned from Natalya Kuleshova, a member of the Budget and Finance Commission of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, before an expanded session of the commission.

According to Natalya Kuleshova, there are plans to extend the preferential rate of the tax into 2026. “Later on we will see for how long we need to extend the discounted rate,” the MP noted.

She added that ineffective preferences and low-efficiency preferences have been removed from the Tax Code this year. It means that the Tax Code will no longer contain preferences that very few taxpayers in the territory of the Republic of Belarus have enjoyed. If a preference applies only to one or two taxpayers, it is seen as individualized state support.

An expanded-participation session of the Budget and Finance Commission is in progress in the House of Representatives of the National Assembly. Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vadim Ipatov is taking part in it alongside with top officials of the Tax and Duties Ministry, the Finance Ministry, and the Labor and Social Protection Ministry.
