MINSK, 7 November (BelTA) - Belarusians continue to uphold the ideals of equality and unity while maintaining a sense of self-dignity, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Cuba to Belarus Santiago Pérez Benítez told BelTA during an event marking the 108th anniversary of the October Revolution. The event was held on Nezavisimosti Square in Minsk, near the monument to Vladimir Lenin, BelTA has learned.
“Not only social traditions, but also spiritual traditions, a sense of equality, a sense of unity, a sense of freedom for every person, a sense of self-dignity,” the ambassador said when asked about the legacy of the October Revolution.
“Those who carried out the Great October Revolution were driven by precisely the values that are fully embodied in the lives of Belarusians today,” Santiago Pérez Benítez said.
He emphasized that Cuba considers Belarus a kin nation and honors the country's contributions during the Second World War. The patriotism of Belarusians serves as an example for many around the world, including Latin American countries. “The way you defended your land during the Great Patriotic War, and the way you withstand pressure from the West, inspires many people. You are building a successful society: stable both economically and politically. This is an example for many countries,” the ambassador stressed.
