CIS to hold Forum of Libraries in Russia's Samara in June 


MINSK, 8 April (BelTA) - Samara will host the CIS Forum of Libraries "Library is a Volunteer Movement Resource Center" on 25-28 June, BelTA learned from the Department for Political, Humanitarian and Social Welfare  Cooperation at the CIS Executive Committee. 

Library experts and leaders of volunteer associations from all regions of Russia and the CIS countries are invited to participate in the forum.

The forum, as one of the significant events of the Year of the Volunteer Movement announced in the CIS in 2024, has been included in the action plan to the concept of Russia’s CIS Chairmanship in 2024. The event will be held with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Russian Library Association, the All-Russian Public Movement in Culture "Volunteers of Culture".

The forum will present cultural volunteer cases of the international program "Volunteers of Peace" and will hold roundtables and discussions. An important part of this event will be a cultural program, which will give colleagues the opportunity to get acquainted not only with the libraries of the city of Samara and Samar Oblast but also with the history of the region, its traditions and modern life.

The CIS Forum of Libraries will contribute towards the exchange of ideas and best volunteer practices, professional ties and new business contacts between cultural institutions of the Russian Federation and the CIS countries. Applications for participation in the forum are open until 28 May.

The organizers of the forum are the Russian State Library for young Adults and the Samara Regional Library for Young Adults.
