MINSK, 19 February (BelTA) - A meeting of the expert group to finalize and coordinate draft regulations on basic organizations of the CIS member states for researching problems of combating transnational crime, training personnel and improving the qualifications of specialized specialists of border agencies, and ensuring security in the border sector took place at the CIS headquarters in Minsk, BelTA learned from the CIS Executive Committee.
Experts, taking into account comments and proposals received from states, finalized and coordinated the documents. It was decided to submit them in the established order for consideration by the CIS Foreign Ministers Council. The meeting was attended by representatives of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, the Coordination Service of the Council of Commanders of Border Troops, and the CIS Executive Committee.
The status of a basic organization for researching problems of combating transnational crime, training personnel and improving the qualifications of specialists of border agencies is proposed to be granted to the Institute of Border Service of Belarus. The scientific potential and material and technical base of the university make it possible to solve complex scientific tasks in studying the problems of combating transnational crime and training border personnel.
The Border Research Center of the Federal Security Service of Russia is proposed to be designated as the basic organization for researching problems of ensuring security in the border sector. It is the lead unit in the field of research activities on this issue, and also organizes and carries out research activities within the framework of scientific support for the protection of the external borders of the CIS member states.
