MINSK, 25 November (BelTA) – CIS consultations on military and political issues in the OSCE region were held under the chairmanship of the Russian delegation to the Vienna negotiations on military security and arms control in Vienna on 25 November, BelTA learned from the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.
Attending the meeting were representatives of Azerbaijan (as observers), Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The CIS Executive Committee delegation was led by CIS Deputy Secretary General Nurlan Seitimov.
The participants exchanged views on political and military aspects of security dimension, including the problems of conventional arms control in Europe and confidence and security building measures. The parties also discussed various issues related to the functioning of the Vienna platforms for negotiations.
The participants reaffirmed their commitment to continuing work within the CIS to strengthen security in the OSCE region and ensure lasting peace and international stability.
