MINSK, 15 May (BelTA) - Belarusians will not allow external influence on the internal political process in the country, Chairman of the Belarusian Central Election Commission Igor Karpenko said during the plenary session of the national seminar-conference "Experience and Prospects of Development of the Electoral System of the Republic of Belarus", BelTA learned.
Following every election campaign, the CEC of Belarus analyzes the practical application of the electoral legislation. These days election organizers from all regions of the country gathered in Minsk for the national seminar-conference to discuss the results of the election cycle 2022-2025, and to review the practice of application of the updated electoral legislation in the course of elections.
"The past presidential election campaign has not just completed the process of political modernization of our country after the national referendum of 2022. In fact, it has determined the strategic path towards further development, and the Belarusian people have once again made their civilizational choice," Igor Karpenko said.
The CEC chief recalled that the presidential election was held on the basis of the updated provisions of the Constitution and the Electoral Code, which fully comply with the National Security Concept aimed to ensure electoral sovereignty as the inalienable right of the state to independently hold elections and referendums without interference from the outside. “During the campaign, we demonstrated that election is an internal affair of a sovereign state and we will not allow external influence on the internal political process in our country,” he said.
