CEC chief tells who was invited to monitor Belarus' presidential election

MINSK, 4 December (BelTA) – The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus invited colleagues from the CIS countries to monitor the presidential election in Belarus, CEC Chairman Igor Karpenko told reporters, BelTA has learned.

“We have invited observers from the central election commissions of the CIS member states, first of all, our colleagues from the CIS Advisory Council of Heads of Electoral Bodies,” Igor Karpenko informed.

The CEC head recalled that the advisory council will convene for its next meeting in Minsk on 24 January.

He noted that the CEC invited representatives of election commissions with which Belarus interacts within the framework of the Association of World Election Bodies.

“We will soon be receiving responses. We should get the necessary documents in order to conduct accreditation,” Igor Karpenko added.

The presidential election in Belarus is scheduled for 26 January 2025.
