BEIJING, 2 September (BelTA) – The agreements between Belarus and China on developing greenhouse farming for vegetable cultivation using modern Chinese technologies are highly promising, businessman Sergei Teterin told the media in Beijing, BelTA has learned.
Earlier, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko held meetings in Beijing with representatives of major companies, suggesting they build modern greenhouses in Belarus, which has all the necessary resources for this.
According to Sergei Teterin, Belarus needs to expand its greenhouse areas to produce agricultural goods in both the vegetable and fruit segments. World-renowned Chinese technologies will help address these issues, he said.
“During the meeting with business partners, we decided that this project will proceed, will move forward. They currently have very interesting developments related to cultivation of both vegetables and fruits. This can be useful for our country. There are tomatoes and cucumbers of shapes I had never seen before. There is something to aspire to. This is our joint investment project that will be implemented in Belarus. We agreed to meet again in September, and this project will start moving forward initially in Vitebsk Oblast, and then further across the country,” the businessman said.
According to him, the investments are intended to be joint, but the key aspect is the technology, which is crucial in any business. “If there are proper technologies, if everything is done on time, then the shelves will be filled with vegetables, fruit, and other produce. As in any technological process,” Sergei Teterin emphasized.
