Budslav to become more visible to tourists

 MINSK, 11 December (BelTA) - The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Budslav will become more visible to tourists, Deputy Commissioner for Religious and Ethnic Affairs Sergei Gerasimenya told journalists, BelTA has learned. 

“In August of this year, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Natalya Petkevich approved a set of measures for the development of spiritual centers. Focus on the development of tourism will be increased," Sergei Gerasimenya said, adding that Budslav will become more visible not only for domestic tourist travel but also for foreign tourists.

The church in Budslav will be presented at international tourism exhibitions alongside other spiritual centers of Belarus. Furthermore, the restoration of the church will be continued following the fire. Plans are in place to organize conferences, readings, exhibitions, and other events in the church. 

The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Budslav has been designated by the Roman Catholic Church in Belarus as a spiritual center. The Budslav church holds a central place among other Roman Catholic Church shrines, attracting tens of thousands of pilgrims annually from Belarus and abroad. The national sanctuary houses the Icon of the Budslav Mother of God which was crowned by the Pope.

Overall, the Roman Catholic Church in Belarus comprises over 440 religious communities, four dioceses, seven monastic communities, and nine missions. There are 524 churches in the country.
