MINSK, 20 June (BelTA) – For the first time, Belarusian State University (BSU) will host the Belarus-China youth forum. The event will be held on 24-26 June, the university’s press service told BelTA.
The forum is organized by BSU and Peking University (PKU) as part of the inter-university celebration “Days of Friendship and Unity of BSU and PKU,” established by the two institutions last year. “The forum will bring together around 200 participants, including talented students, young researchers, and student councils’ representatives from Belarus and China. Belarus will be represented by students from 36 universities, including BSU, Minsk State Linguistic University, Belarusian State Economic University, Belarusian State Medical University, Belarusian-Russian University, Francysk Skaryna Gomel State University, Masherov Vitebsk State University, and Pushkin Brest State University, and others. The Chinese side will be represented by students from 11 universities, including Peking University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Beijing Normal University, Sun Yat-sen University, Southeast University, and others. This forum is a landmark event in Belarus-China cooperation, initiated in June 2024 by Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko during a meeting with then-Party Secretary of PKU Hao Ping. The large-scale event aims to strengthen partnerships, elevate youth policy cooperation, and create a platform for intercultural exchange,” the press service noted.
The three-day program will begin with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Minsk Hero City monument. It will continue with roundtable discussions, dialogue sessions, and interactive seminars. University leaders will discuss best practices for working with gifted students. A highlight of the forum will be the heuristic session “Bridges of Perspective”, led by BSU Rector Andrei Korol. The session is designed to foster meaningful communication with youth, unlock students’ potential, and help them better understand their role in society and in the country. This event will include a foresight session on professional networking and an exhibition of innovative projects by young researchers from both countries, according to BSU.
The program will also feature a friendly women’s basketball match between BSU and PKU teams at the National State School of Olympic Reserve. In order to showcase Belarus’ cultural and historical heritage, participants will visit the Brest Hero Fortress Memorial and Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park. The forum will also offer workshops on traditional crafts from both countries, including straw weaving, calligraphy, and tea ceremonies.
