MINSK, 26 January (BelTA) – It is essential to achieve maximum efficiency from the new educational center, the establishment of which was discussed with the president, Rector of the Belarusian State University (BSU) Andrei Korol told the media following the meeting to discuss a project to set up an educational center for training personnel in promising fields in Minsk on 26 January, BelTA has learned.
Andrei Korol described the educational center as a necessary project for the country and noted that it concerns training the specialists of tomorrow. “Everyone present at the meeting with Aleksandr Grigoryevich [Lukashenko] are interested in maximizing the efficiency [of specialist training at the educational center],” the rector said.
According to him, BSU has gained considerable experience over the past four years in innovative training of specialists for promising areas. “These are experimental programs. We conduct selection, provide training, and, as a result, work directly with the real economy, with future employers,” Andrei Korol emphasized.
The rector noted that a wide range of issues were raised at the president’s meeting: “The head of state immediately outlined a number of very profound points that are hard to disagree with. Therefore, the discussion turned out to be very productive and fruitful.”
Andrei Korol pointed out the necessity of creating a seamless pathway from “school to university to first employment” as a crucial element. This is where the high-level skills to be cultivated at the center will be needed. At the same time, he stressed, the education at the center is not planned to be mass-scale.
“Our universities handle mass education quite effectively. What we are planning here is elite education. We cannot speak in terms of thousands: the numbers will certainly be far lower,” the BSU rector said.
