BREST, 20 June (BelTA) – Brest is gearing up to host the tenth edition of the Belarusian-Russian Youth Forum on 20-22 June, BelTA has learned.
The forum will bring together 60 people. These are young people aged between 18 and 35: representatives of youth public organizations, leaders of youth movements, students, representatives of government bodies of Belarus and Russia, and distinguished guests. The business program of the forum includes meetings with experts in youth policy, representatives of executive authorities.
The event will be officially launched at the Museum of Defense of the Brest Fortress on 21 June. The plenary session "Shared historical and cultural heritage of Belarus and Russia. Youth initiatives” will present the projects and modern research of young historians, an updated version of the Digital Star website, an exhibition of photographs of the patriotic campaign "Belarus: Before and After" timed to the Day of National Remembrance of the Victims of the Great Patriotic War. It will also feature a dialogue with representatives of clubs of military-historical reconstruction and search teams, youth projects and initiatives aimed at preserving historical memory.
The breakout sessions will be hosted by the Brest State Technical University and will focus on a number of important topics: "Media in the new information reality" and "Patriotism in the system of values of modern youth of Belarus and Russia". The youth of the Union State will join the dialogue on the role and main trends of new media, promotion of domestic media platforms and information channels. The topic of cybersecurity and information counteraction to fake information will be on the agenda too.
The forum will also highlight civic and patriotic education, bilateral cooperation and joint civil and patriotic projects, and interaction between youth student patriotic organizations of Russia and Belarus. The forum participants will visit the interactive museum "Victory Train", tour the sites of historical and cultural heritage of Belarus, and attend the events dedicated to the Day of National Remembrance of the Victims of the Great Patriotic War and the Genocide of the Belarusian People.
The annual Belarusian-Russian Youth Forum has been held since 2013 on the initiative of the Belarusian Youth Union BRSM and the National Council of Youth and Children's Associations of Russia. The forum is designed to develop international youth cooperation in the Union State in order to unlock the educational, social, spiritual and moral potential of the younger generation, consolidate the youth social movement, strengthen friendship, and to promote mutual understanding and interaction between the youth of Belarus and Russia. Last year, the forum was hosted by Vladivostok.
