MINSK, 4 December (BelTA) - BelTA has launched a multimedia special project dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Belarus, BelTA reports.
The BelTA team, together with the CEC, has been working to collect information and archive photos. All this is featured in the project which accumulated the most significant information about the activities of the Central Election Commission. The multimedia platform also features exclusive interviews with Igor Karpenko, Lidia Yermoshina, Natalya Kochanova, Vladimir Konoplev, Grigory Vasilevich, Piotr Miklashevich, Valery Mitskevich and others.
“It's a huge body of work. The CEC in figures, in facts, in photos, in people. It is not just the history of the Central Election Commission. It is the history of our country, our people, and in particular the people featured in our project,” said Irina Akulovich, Director General of BelTA. “Practically all editorial offices of BelTA were involved in the work on the multimedia special project dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Belarus. It is a true team effort, including preparation of interview questions, video shooting and editing, collection of information and selection of photos on topics that were determined together with colleagues from the Central Election Commission.”

The project features seven thematic sections. “The first one - History of the CEC and the electoral system development – is a historical summary of the main stages of development of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Belarus, in-depth stories about its activities and those who worked here in different years. The section features a wide range of interviews and photos. The second section - International Activity – provides information about international organizations, where the Central Election Commission of Belarus is a member, about the work conducted in this area, and also contains information on international (foreign) observation. The third section is devoted to Legal Education. It contains important information about the work carried out on legal and political education of Belarusians on election topics, work with young people, meetings, conferences and events,” the BelTA director general emphasized.
“The fourth section is about the referendums held in the country. It comprises a chronological summary of them, as well as statistics on each referendum, and media information. Presidential Election in Belarus is another section which is dedicated to all election campaigns from 1994 to 2025. It includes background information, recollections, statistics and historical materials about each election campaign and unique photos from the BelTA archives, hundreds of thousands of them. Section six highlights the Belarusian People’s Congress and contains everything you need to know about this constitutional body, with interviews, photos, and figures. Another important section is 'The National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and Local Councils of Deputies' and details the elections to the Council of the Republic, the House of Representatives and local councils. It also tells about the single voting day," Irina Akulovich added. "This is how we described the 35-year history of the CEC in a brief, succinct and, as we think, accessible way. I hope that this project will be interesting not only for us, professionals, but also for young people. Hopefully, due to such a format with a lot of media elements, it will become a source of reliable and accessible information for them."
The project about the CEC is available on the websites of BelTA and the Central Election Commission.
