MINSK, 19 August (BelTA) – The National Center for Hydrometeorology, Radioactive Contamination Control, and Environmental Monitoring (Belhydromet) intends to set up at least five new automatic weather stations, BelTA learned from Belarusian Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Minister Sergei Maslyak on the sidelines of the 3rd international specialized ecological expo Ecology Expo.
The National Center for Hydrometeorology, Radioactive Contamination Control, and Environmental Monitoring of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Ministry is getting modernized. According to Sergei Maslyak, the first part and the second one are in the final stage already. “They include modernization of Belhydromet’s local area network that we will finish this year and the work we’ve started and are supposed to finish by 2030 – the construction of at least five new automatic weather stations across the entire country,” the minister shared the plans.
He remarked that the success rate of daily weather forecasts for specific oblasts of Belarus averaged 97.7% in January-July 2025, with the success rate at 97.2% on the second day and 96% on the third day.
The 3rd international specialized ecological expo Ecology Expo will welcome guests specializing in environmental protection for three days. On 19-21 August taking part in the expo will be representatives of central government agencies, ministries and government agencies from CIS and non-CIS states, Belarusian and foreign enterprises, international organizations, and scientists. They will discuss key matters of development of green economy, will share cutting-edge practices, and will demonstrate accomplishments in the field of environmental protection.
