Belarusian State University, University of Kent sign cooperation agreement

MINSK, 4 February (BelTA) – The Belarusian State University and the University of Kent, UK have signed a cooperation agreement. Partnership within the framework of the Erasmus+ program will be aimed at organizing academic mobility. In particular, the document provides for enabling education and postgraduate education opportunities for Belarusian students in the British university, the Belarusian university's press service told BelTA.

Apart from that, the Belarusian and British universities will arrange exchange programs for lecturers and professors. Joint education events will be arranged as well as open lectures, roundtable sessions, conferences, and scientific research.

The document was signed by Rector of the Belarusian State University Andrei Korol and Philippe De Wilde, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation at the University of Kent. Apart from that, the sides discussed a plan of specific events designed to advance cooperation in science, education, international relations, history, and biology.

BelTA reported earlier that a delegation of the Belarusian State University took part in the forum “Building resilience in a wider Eurasia: Challenges and opportunities” in London in late January as part of the COMPASS project. Participants of the forum discussed the enhancement of trust and the advancement of international cooperation in the Eurasian region, the expansion of interuniversity relations between participants of the COMPASS project. In particular, the Belarusian State University reached an agreement on signing an agreement with the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy (ADA University). An action plan on expanding Belarus-Uzbekistan relations in education was agreed. Negotiations were held with representatives of British universities with a view to expanding academic mobility and preparing an English-language scientific paper on Belarus' past and present. The possibility of Belarus' inclusion in programs of the Newton Fund was discussed as well as the establishment of contacts between the Belarusian State University and British IT companies.

The Belarusian State University joined the international project COMPASS in 2018.
